Strengthening Communities Through Community Development
Union Savings Bank is committed to supporting organizations and programs that create meaningful opportunities for low- and moderate-income individuals, families, and communities.
Through our Community Development Grant Program, we provide financial support to nonprofit organizations and initiatives that align with Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) objectives and address critical community needs within our assessment areas and surrounding communities.
Grant Timeline
The 2027 Community Development Grant application period is now open.
- Submission Deadline: November 30, 2026
- Review Period: December 2026 through January 2027
- Award Notifications: February 2027
Eligibility Requirements
Organizations must generally meet the following requirements to be considered:
- Be a nonprofit organization recognized as tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code or a governmental/community-based organization serving a public purpose.
- Serve communities within Union Savings Bank’s assessment areas or broader regional markets.
- Demonstrate sound financial management and organizational capacity.
- Be in good standing with applicable regulatory and governmental agencies.
- Request funding for programs, projects, or services that primarily benefit low- and moderate-income individuals, families, neighborhoods, or communities.
Priority consideration may be given to programs that support:
Affordable Housing
Programs that support the development, preservation, rehabilitation, or accessibility of affordable housing for low- and moderate-income individuals and families.
Community Services
Programs that provide essential services targeted primarily to low- and moderate-income individuals, including:
- Financial education and counseling
- Workforce development and job training
- Food security initiatives
- Education and youth development
- Healthcare and supportive services
- Homelessness prevention and support services
Economic Development
Programs that promote economic opportunity through support for small businesses, entrepreneurship, job creation, or workforce development benefiting low- and moderate-income individuals.
Neighborhood Revitalization and Community Development
Projects that help improve, stabilize, or revitalize communities through investments in facilities, infrastructure, community resources, or place-based initiatives.

To assist us in evaluating your request, please provide the following information:
Organization Information
- Organization name, address, website, and primary contact information
- Mission statement and organizational history
- Proof of nonprofit status, if applicable
- Description of your organization’s service area
Funding Request
- Amount requested
- Total project or program budget
- Intended use of grant funds
- Other confirmed or anticipated funding sources
Program Description
- Description of the project, program, or initiative being funded
- Community need being addressed
- Target population to be served
- Approximate percentage of program beneficiaries who are low- and moderate-income individuals, and how eligibility is verified or documented
- Geographic area served
- Number of individuals, households, or communities expected to benefit
Community Impact
Please explain:
- How the program benefits low- and moderate-income individuals, families, or communities
- Expected outcomes and measurable impact
- How success will be evaluated
- Whether the program addresses an identified community need or gap
Project Timeline
- Anticipated start and completion dates
- Key milestones and deliverables
Collaboration and Sustainability
- Key community partners, if applicable
- Plans for sustaining the program beyond the grant period
- Long-term community impact
Evaluation Criteria
Applications will be evaluated based on:
- Alignment with Union Savings Bank’s community development objectives
- Benefit to low- and moderate-income individuals, families, or communities
- Demonstrated community need
- Measurable impact and outcomes
- Organizational capacity and financial stewardship
- Feasibility and sustainability of the proposed program
- Geographic relevance to the communities we serve
Submission of an application does not guarantee funding.
Award Notification
Organizations selected for funding will be notified following the completion of the review process. All applicants will receive notification regarding the status of their request.
